Self Definition reprospetive personal exhibition of Efi Tsoulouchopoulou
Υβρίδιο 150Χ150 Βράχος 35Χ45 Efi Tsoulouchopoulou Self-Definition Efi Tsoulouchopoulou’s exhibition “Self-Definition” features paintings on canvas and paper, collages and photographs, from 2000 until today. In this retrospective-type exhibition, the artist attempts an anatomy of the anxious and wounded self, a deep, inward gaze. That brave confrontation with the truth through a broken mirror is an exercise in self-healing. The artist investigates concepts such as healing, self-care and self-fashioning – in other words, the construction of the self. The exhibition also touches upon other concepts, such as stripping bare, revealing the perishable body, discovering and narrating its stories. The leading character in Tsoulouchopoulou’s works is her own naked body. Captured in various positions and worked on in different techniques, the body gazes, focuses, balances, gestates, conceives of new life, or rises like a celestial body.
